Design Review for Low EMF Buildings

Achieving low EMF environments in new building and facilities through construction design choices is a growing component of FMS' professional consulting services. It is intuitively obvious that the best time to manage EMF issues is prior to or during the construction phase. When new buildings are finished or improvements to existing buildings are completed and occupancy occurs, the cost of mitigating an EMF problem, both in cost and logistics, is substantially greater post construction than at the outset of the project.

FMS is often retained as a specialty consultant by building owners and developers and provide the project's architectural and electrical designers with design and engineering design recommendations to achieve reductions in EMF emissions from electrical components and EMI protection for sensitive equipment and systems under consideration for use or installation in the completed building.

Careful review of electrical design and space planning documents, coupled with computer modeling, can pinpoint potential problem areas and quantify the extent of the potential for interference. When the plans are analyzed, and models created, preemptive design changes can be incorporated into the layout and design of the space, or can identify the most effective and efficient mitigation options to retain full use of the space.
